What is Gastroscopy?

Gastroscopy is a safe and quick procedure that allows doctors to examine your:

• 🟢 Esophagus
• 🟢 Stomach
• 🟢 Duodenum (first part of the small intestine)

This is done using a thin, flexible camera called an endoscope. It helps diagnose problems like ulcers, acid reflux, bleeding, and stomach cancer.

What to Expect During the Procedure

• ⏳ Done on an empty stomach – fasting for at least 6 hours
• Takes about 5–10 minutes
• 💤 Local anesthetic spray or mild sedation may be given
• 📺 Procedure is shown live on a monitor

Why Gastroscopy is Important

🔍 It helps detect:

• Stomach and duodenal ulcers
• H. pylori infection
• Precancerous and cancerous changes
• Internal bleeding

✅ A biopsy (small tissue sample) can be taken painlessly during the test.
